Update

Some people have asked me to write an update on my poker life, so here it is:

I haven't played a hand of poker in over a month and I feel great!

I was just IMing with a friend and he said, "...it beats drawing at 2-3-4-8 i'm sure." That this was a poker reference did not register with me for 30 seconds or so. I thought he was talking about the lottery or something. This is how far removed from poker I am right now.

So what are you up to these days Chris?

Have you taken any of the business ventures mentioned in a post a while ago? Considering going back to college?

When visiting the states I'd love to get a beer in the Triple Draw bar =)

Alright Chris, good to hear your alive and kicking mate.

Any updates as to what your doing as regards to the poker front/career wise?

Did you go broke?

I have a few ideas for how to make a living after poker. I'm working on them. If one of them becomes a reality, maybe I'll post about it, though this is not a personal blog, it's a poker blog. Going back to school is not something I'm considering. Sadly neither is the Triple Draw Bar and Grill.

No, I did not go broke.

Duh...you didn't go totally broke, but I bet you didn't buy the house either when you had the opportunity.

You might consider balancing poker with gainful employment. Of course, losing to utter donkeys still hurts, but if your not looking at eating mac & cheese for the next month because of it, that's some consolation. I know I'm far better at my best game than my opponents, so when I lose I kick a few things and then figure that eventually (if they keep playing) all their chips will end up in the rake or in front of me.

Chris, I'm curious to know if you are planning on playing some more poker anytime soon, of if you are enjoying your time away so much that you have no desire at all to go back. I have endured a number of bad runs as a longtime poker player that made me need a short time away from the game just to get my head back on straight, but #1 I was never playing at the limits you had moved up to, and #2 I've never needed more than a few days off to get myself back into the right mindset to hit the tables, virtual or otherwise. After nearly two months away, I would love to know if the itch is coming back, and if so, for what games and what stakes? And if not, do you think it ever will come back again?

Thanks, have loved reading your blog for a long time and look forward to you getting back into the swing of things with a clean head and some optimism for the future.

I am enjoying my time away. I'm sure I will play again at some point but I don't feel like it now.
