thats pretty sick..
Great all-in.
WTF call.
Unreal.
Why push all in on the flop? A smaller bet and push on the turn is a much better play. People are more willing to put all there money in with 2 cards to come as opposed to one on the turn.
rb
A lesser bet is actually more likely to induce a call. The guy has an open-ended straight draw (with one or two potential over cards) and a pot size bet or less prices him in. Chris probably doesn't have enough chips to then scare him off with a push on the turn. The guy has him outchipped by almost 40K and is going to call another 20K for a 80+ pot. Chris made the correct push - the guy made a tough, probably bad call unless Chris had a really loose/agressive table image.
Aside from enjoying the gamble, what do we know about the caller?
I think Mr. Anon's comment is right on. The point of the overbet is so he will think about folding a hand like the one he had. I have more fold equity the more I bet.
What a call....he played his hand about as badly as he could have at every chance.
Nothing wrong at all with the jam there. Bettting small on the flop and then jamming the turn isn't going to scare this guy off, if anything it'll keep him in the pot since he'll have more of his own money invested.
I don't like the jam and may be wrong. Him calling your pre-flop raise gives him a large number of hands that have a good draw or already have you beat with a Q or 10 and better kicker. Usually, the only hand he calls your jam with is one you are behind with or don't want to sweat (of course he called with worse than that in this case). You check behind and if he checks the turn, you jam, else if he bets big afer the turn, you fold and live to play with what is still an okay stack at this point. Let's be realistic, you were on a blind steal with your initial bet to begin with and got called so why go bust wih that hand?
