Up, Up, and Away

Today I woke up, went downstairs, got seated in a 200-400 mixed game, ordered some food, and everything was going according to plan. At that point someone came over and pointed out to me that therewas a 500-1000 triple draw game going. I checked out the lineup and decided I should get in the game. I was a little short of cash so I spent a little time trying to borrow some (lending and borrowing money are my least favorite poker-related things to do but sometimes they are necessary) but had no luck. I sat down with the last $22k that I had out here. Five hours later the game broke and I had a big win. Lately I seem to have sick success when I take shots in bigger games. Tonight was the highest I've played yet and was easily my biggest win ever. The January rush has carried over into February. Here's hoping it lasts the whole year.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Lakers game with some friends so I gotta get some sleep.

(1) so exactly how big was the win? if you don't mind sharing; (2) did anyone recognize you/know that you just took down the TD event in Tunica?; (3) were there any 'name' players at the table? especially give limits that big.

I'm actually surprised your biggest win would come from a 500-1000 live session in 5 hours, seeing as how you run 300-600 online.

One would have to think either
1) you've yet to run remarkably online

or

2) that was truly a magical session of live.

Hey Chris,

To be quite honest, I'm not sure you do yourself enough credit. You may have run well. Only you can tell us that:). But over the course of the last few months you seem to do consistently well at triple draw.

I always enjoy reading about your triple draw experiences. I occasionally get bored with a constant barrage of hand histories from players but I thoroughly enjoy reading your triple draw hands.

Keep it up!

Chris, at this rate, you should just take all your cash and post the bb against Andy Beal! Congrats on the scary score.

Thanks guys.

- I decided to stop quantifying the live game results that I share on here.

- A few players in the game knew me but I don't think anyone recognized me as the person who won that tournament.

- Some name players in the game included Jean-Robert Bellande, Abe Mossieri, and Sean Sheikhan.

- I've run pretty good online, but this WAS a truly magical live session. We were also playing three-handed for a good chunk of time and the games I've been playing online are almost always five or six-handed.

You've been playing enough big games lately to know what the normal swings are like. And you've been playing serious poker for long enough and are mathematically competent enough to know what your bankroll requirements are for games like this.

So either you've built a really impressive poker bankroll in a relatively short time (by poker standards) or your willingness to take shots at soft looking bigger games without adequate bankroll behind you has, to this point, worked out well. Congratulations.

pretty incredible. You've got to be one of the only people to document the journey from 10-20[maybe lower, i didn't check] to some of the highest limits around.

Pretty incredible stuff.

For a while I tended to think you ran super-good to make such a quick transition, but now I really think I underestimated how much you put into this game. I think the time/hands you put into poker creates the illusion that you are running really well, when really u r just plain making it by putting in the hours in games you can beat.

danpark,

I've only met Chris a few times, but I can confirm that he is without a doubt a dedicated student of the game. I think all the success he's had is very well deserved.
