Chris, I'm by no means an O8 expert, but that seems like a pretty crummy starting hand to be putting two bets in preflop with. I realize that you were five-handed, but that still wouldn't be a good enough hand for me to enter that pot.

Perhaps I play the game too tight-passive, but I've been more successful at O8 when I take a more "limp or fold or ocassional raise" approach rather than my typical hold 'em "fold or raise" approach. I'll raise when my hand plays really well both ways, but other than that, I'll just limp when it plays well one way and marginally well the other or when it plays marginally well both ways. However, my O8 experience has been at full table 5/10 games rather than 30/60.

But, there is something to be said about the fact that most O8 hands really aren't much better or worse than most others, and if the play after the flop by your opponents can be this bad, it merits seeing more flops with marginal hands. And I guess if you're going to do this, you might as well raise to drive out the blinds to build your equity in the pot.

...I can't believe that guy called...

Winning with Jack high when called on the end in O/8 with no low possible must be something close to a six-sigma event.

In answer to your question:

Dealt to SaveMySkin [8d 3h 2d Js]
SaveMySkin: raises $30 to $60

Just kidding. Though even short I can't imagine this hand single suited is particularly valueable. I cant see a legitimate arguement for two coordinated cards with your 2-3, but the 8 is terrible back up for your low and essentially a dead card. As for how he calls I'll assume he misread the board or misclicked.

Not my game, but that starting hand needs beer goggles to warrant a preflop raise. Nice to get the misclick call though.

Point taken about the hand selection, guys, but trust me this was not a misclick or a problem reading the board. This guy plays all the time so he can read Omaha boards and he paused three or four seconds before calling.

pissed off he can't catch a card and curious what hand you have?

Very possible but more often seen in the $.01/$.02 game than at this limit, in my experience.

If the guy mucked, how does Pokerstars still show what he has?

*** RIVER *** [Ad Qd 6s Ac] [Ah]
SaveMySkin: bets $60
FiveV: calls $60

He didn't muck, he called! PokerStars allows you to see all hands that made it to a showdown on the river.

hey,
I like raising 4-handed with that hand if they are on the tighter/passive/bad side.

That was a horrifically bad call he made. maybe i should play in that game.

Sweet Jesus,

If that's indicative of $30/$60 O8, I'm moving up.
