People Playing Online Poker Say Funny Things
Playing a WSOP double shootout on Stars right now. We're four-handed, I have the chip lead (over 6500) and I've been raising liberally. With blinds at 75-150, I make it 450 on the button with 88, the SB folds, the BB jams for 3200, I call, he shows 62o. We know how this one goes...2 on the flop, 6 on the river. But the best part is one of the guys who was not involved in the hand says, "That's what happens when people get sick of your bullying." Yes, when people get sick of my bullying they shove all their chips in with 62o. I better stop bullying this instant.
This is the second of these I've played today. In the first I made the final table and couldn't fade Q2o with AA. That's right, I raised preflop and someone called me with Q2o and flopped two pair.
Total spent in WSOP qualifying to date: $4524 (almost halfway there!)
Hey at least I found some good hold em games on UB tonight. Does anybody play the 30 and 50 games regularly?

I'm literally crying from laughter at that 62o comment. That is a must keeper for your and matt's book.
So I take it you didn't get a seat in that tournament? Did you get anything back from making the final table?
Last night at the $20+2 Party $25k guaranteed two guys get all the money in on the turn A8c vs. KT. Board is AJcK5c. Club hits the river. Guy with KT says "nice river". YOU WERE BEHIND THE WHOLE WAY!
Next hand I hit trips on the flop and get the guy with A8c last hand to put all his money on the turn with a 2-outer and he busts me. I say, "No... THAT's a nice river."
oooooh and the bad beat stories from the crowd begin!
Notice how I never refered to the play of my hand or my opponents. I didn't mention a board or anyone's card, simply he hit a two-outer on the river. I only mention the hand because my statement is great vs. the previous hand.
If we want to mention the bad beat aspect, and even better statement is that after the hand he says "I read him wrong". Exactly what kind of hand are you going to read me for that you can beat with an underpair (44 even) on a JAAT board when I check-raise you all-in on the turn? Granted he only had to call not even a min-raise on the turn, but still.
Have you found the 30 and 50 games on UB this week that good? I saw you in it last night and kept one eye on it but it seemed to be the standard mid-limit blind-attack/blind-defence game, nothing worth venturing out of my soft NL patches for.
The games aren't "Party 15-30" good or anything. Maybe I'm projecting game strength based on my results, which have been nothing but nice wins this week (in the middle of another one right now). The games are definitely very blind attack/defense oriented with very little limping, but that's to be expected at those limits. They have also featured a nice combination of players who play weak and players who play stupid aggressive. Very exploitable, both.
I guess I should start playing NL cash games so I have soft patches to return to, eh?
Since I know you're a pokertracker user and you are the limit HE guru: What do you think your expectation is in BB/100 in the UB $50/$100 game?
and I hope you dont mind me asking this, feel free to not reply: you mentioned once you had 172,000 hands of the party 15/30 game. What was your win rate there?
Hey I just found your blog off of Felica's, Gl in the WSOP qualifying. Do you mind if I link ya up to my blog? Thanks and gl.
Kyd, welcome and feel free to link me of course.
Ros, I haven't played the 50 game enough to tell what my expectation would be. In my 15/30 records, my win rate over 173k hands is 1.3 BB/100. I am a much different player now than I was at the start of those 173k hands though. In the 30k hands I've played this year, I'm at 1.7 BB/100. Of course these numbers are per table and I'm playing 6 at a time these days. Looks like I'm at about $175/hr for 6-tabling this year.
1.7 BB/hr is nothing earth-shattering in these games. I know more than a few people who do better than that. I'm not sure if I'm the LHE guru you think I am. =)
No, I don't need you in my patches!
Non-aggression pact, I stay out of 30 and 50 limit and you stay out of 5-10 and 10-25 NL :)
Okay but if I promise to stay out of your games when you're in them, I should really start playing NL cash games, right? :)
I'm not afraid of you Chan! I've played limit hold em with you before!
Ok you're right we should stay out of each other's way.
Have you ever tried the $1300 sit & Go's on prima to get the seat? I'm thinking of giving it a try this weekend.
