When It's Easy
First of all, everyone join me in rooting for my boy, Mike May, who is in 11th chip position with 27 to go in the World Poker Open main event in Tunica. Mike is one of the nicest guys and sharpest minds in poker. He deserves a big one like this. Also still alive: Chau Giang, Stan Goldstein, Daniel Negreanu, Dan Heimiller, Mark Napolitano, Jeff Shulman, Scotty Nguyen, Padraig Parkinson, and Gank's Dad. Yeah, Gank's Dad. Gank Owns.
Most nights poker isn't easy. You have to think, you take some beats and get a little pissed off, your tables keep breaking, people are playing very slowly, etc. I'm not complaining, it just comes with the territory.
But some nights, it's just easy. Everything falls into place. You win when you're a big favorite, you win when you're even money, and you win coming from far behind. Before you know it, you're ahead a good chunk of change without breaking a sweat. Tonight was one of those nights. I had a lot of these nights during the middle of last year but they've been far between since then. Nice to see them coming back.

You'll only understand the beauty of this one if you watch a lot of poker on tv. Many times in the broadcasts of NL events, you will hear commentators say, "I can only imagine he's calling this bet on the flop to try to take the pot away from his opponent on a later street." This guy thought it seems to work to well on tv, why not try it on Party Poker! I'll check-call the flop out of position and then "try to take it away from him" on the turn! ...and the river! I don't really love how I played this hand, but you have to understand that this guy AliGisGay is a lunatic. I think I've gotta make it 60 on the turn to get the other guy to fold even if "Ali" is more than likely to have me beat, lunatic or no. ...Or he could have 93! These are the hands you win on "easy" nights. On nights that aren't easy, the third player in the hand three-bets you, the lunatic folds, and then you have to fold for $30 more even though the pot has $405 in it.

You'll only understand the beauty of this one if you watch a lot of poker on tv. Many times in the broadcasts of NL events, you will hear commentators say, "I can only imagine he's calling this bet on the flop to try to take the pot away from his opponent on a later street." This guy thought it seems to work to well on tv, why not try it on Party Poker! I'll check-call the flop out of position and then "try to take it away from him" on the turn! ...and the river! Beautiful. One more.

I don't really love how I played this hand, but you have to understand that this guy AliGisGay is a lunatic. I think I've gotta make it 60 on the turn to get the other guy to fold even if "Ali" is more than likely to have me beat, lunatic or no. ...Or he could have 93! These are the hands you win on "easy" nights. On nights that aren't easy, the third player in the hand three-bets you, the lunatic folds, and then you have to fold for $30 more even though the pot has $405 in it.
Are people enjoying these hands? Sorry the Eurobet hand histories look so ugly with that "shown" line of text. I emailed them about it but I doubt they'll do anything about it.

cold calling three bets with 10 10, even on the button, is a horrible move. It's funny how you make fun of all of these people yet you make tons of mistakes as well. Playing 67c in EP is highly questionable, as was your call on the flop. You hit your four-outer (maybe three-outer with the flush out there) and now that gives you the right to make fun of others? Whatever.
The point is, most of these people are indeed idiots. At the same time, you made two highly questionable plays in those first two hands alone. Just keeping you in-line...

About calling three bets cold with TT, in a normal game, I wouldn't do it. Sklansky famously says, "If it's been raised and re-raised before it gets to you, you can throw jacks away," and he's right under normal circumstances. But these loose aggressive games on Party just aren't normal games. Did you notice that the guy who made it to the river cold-called three bets with J4s?!
About 76s, I admit this is a marginal call in MP with only one limper. And I don't want to just argue "results poker," but look at the results! Sure if the raiser has a big pair and the board is seven high on the river, I'm probably paying him off and I'll wish I hadn't limped. But if I win a $757 pot against bottom pair worst kicker when I make the stone nuts, it's gotta make up for the times when I'm paying off with a loser on the river. No?
